The Forest

I see the Forest as an analogy to each of our own healing journeys. Healing is change. The idea of change can be scary, but the act of change can be liberating, adventurous, and magical.

In stories, the hero or heroine enters the Forest in search of something to help him or her achieve a specific goal. The Forest contains hope, magic, and possibilities. Entering it alone can be intimidating, yet the potential for changing one’s life for the better outweighs the unknown aspects of the journey.

As the traveler navigates the Forest, he or she experiences unexpected challenges, but also meets new friends to help the hero/heroine overcome them. The solitary goal also shifts as the traveler gains new ways of seeing the world and himself/herself in it.

“In a Forest of a hundred thousand trees, no two leaves are alike. And no two journeys along the same path are alike.”
-Paulo Coelho

Though the healing path is a solitary one done within our inner world, we do have the support of our companions as we travel! They help us learn about ourselves and encourage us to connect more deeply with who we truly are. They bring out beautiful qualities in ourselves we weren’t aware we possessed, and offer us a new way of being in the world.

My goal at New Moon in the Forest is to introduce you to these traveling companions, the Plant Spirits, to tell you about the gifts they have offered you, and to join you for part of your healing journey.
